Wow…December was a whirlwind of a month for the youth group; from going to a comedy show, to fundraising, to changes in meeting times and getting ready for Christmas. We packed a lot in this month! How about you? During all the excitement did we really reflect on what Christmas means? Did we remember the amazing sacrifice God made for us by sending his Son? Sometimes it is easy to get caught up in the busyness of the Christmas season and forget what it is all about. Now that things have, hopefully, calmed down take the time to reflect on this great gift. Read about the life Jesus led in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
We are so thankful for all the help we had in December. First, to recap, at the end of November we had Dad’s Belgian Waffle Dinner in which we were able to raise over $1000 that will be used for future youth events, such as the National Youth Gathering in 2013. THANK YOU, THANK YOU to all members for your support through prayer, working at the event and attending. This was a great success!
Our December started with the Tim Hawkins Comedy show, which was amazing. If you haven’t heard him before, stop by the youth room as the youth continue to tell jokes and perform imitations. Next, we started our popular lefse sales. We had the privilege of hearing from all of you about the different ways lefse can be prepared (that was quite interesting). We enjoyed being able to visit with many members and visitors through these events and while serving refreshments one Sunday during family Bible hour. Our December will conclude with the “Burn down the Wendt house” event…..no we will not be burning down the Wendt house instead the youth will be invading their home, raiding their fridge, and producing loud noise late into the evening; in our eyes just a regular Friday night.
January will bring some new adventures. Our biggest adventure will be on January 29th when we will have our first youth Sunday at the late service. This means the youth will be ushering, singing, reading etc. We are very excited for this event and hope to see you there.
